The tertiary activities of Guadalajara are based on tourism: the academic, entertainment, sport and cultural tourism. With an expectation for high growth within the next five years, tourism is now one of the most important sectors in the Guadalajaran economy. It is an important tourist destination center in itself and serves as an axis of an array of nearby tourist destinations (Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Mazatlan).
University of Guadalajara is a public university. It is the second oldest university in Mexico, the fourth oldest in North America and the fourteenth oldest in Latin America. It is regarded as one of the most significant Universities in Mexico, only behind by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in student population. The University of Guadalajara has a number of campi inside and outside the town of Guadalajara.
Tourism is also offered in the Centro Universitario de la Costa (www.cuc.udg.mx), CU de los Valles (www.cuvalles.udg.mx), CU de Costa Sur (www.cucsur.udg.mx) . CUCOSTA is in Puerto Vallarta. CUCSUR is Autlán de Navarro which is close to the coast and is a smallish town famous for being the birthplace of Carlos Santana (a more tranquil place to study).www.cgci.udg.mx Zurück
