The City


Seville is the capital of the autonomous community of Andalusia situated in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The city of Seville has a population of about 690,000 inhabitants making it the fourth-largest city in Spain. Its old town contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies.

The University


The Universidad de Sevilla is a university was founded under the name of "Colegio Santa María de Jesús" in 1505. Today it counts approx. 73,000 students and is one of the top-ranked universities in the country.
The university consists of several campuses and faculties spread throughout Seville. The main building of the University of Seville is known as the "Old Tobacco Factory", named for its original use.
