MCI Earth Day 2022 - Event Planning Competition

Take your chance to become an event manager of the MCI Earth Day 2022!

Are topics like sustainability, ethics, and corporate social responsibility important to you? Do you enjoy planning events? Then you are exactly who we are looking for.

With the MCI Earth Day Event 2022, you will get the unique opportunity to help design an event that will increase the awareness of responsibility and sustainability at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®.

The event will take place on April 22, 2022. Ideas can be submitted in the following categories*:

  • Activities in the lead-up to the MCI Earth Day (e.g. social media campaign)
  • On campus activities in the afternoon of the MCI Earth Day
  • Online activities in the afternoon of the MCI Earth Day

*Submissions in multiple categories are possible

Sustainability, social and environmental responsibility, and ethical behavior are key aspects every MCI student should be aware of. In order to raise awareness about these topics, MCI is planning an institution-wide event that informs about current MCI initiatives, creates engagement, and encourages initiatives and idea generation amongst our students, staff, and the wider community. The initiative will be student-led and is supported by the MCI PRME team.

Find a few people you like working with and form a team of 2-5 students. Brainstorm ideas for an MCI Earth Day 2022 event that raises awareness about the topics mentioned above, and work out a concept addressing the criteria in the checklist below. The event language can contain both German and English elements. Be creative, but realistic! Your aim is to reach as many people as possible with a strong message about PRME, the SDGs, and how YOU as MCI students can make a difference.

TIP: Take care to arrange the time frame in such a way that as many MCI students as possible can attend the event, so that you maximize the number of participants.

The competition is open to all current MCI students. Submission is possible for teams consisting of 2-5 students. Each team can only submit ONE event concept per category.

Create a Powerpoint presentation, selecting the appropriate category and submit your concept via the online submission form.

The presentation

  • must address the criteria outlined in the competition pdfchecklist*
  • should contain no more than 10 slides
  • can be in English or German
  • must be your own, original and unpublished work

*Please note that the checklist above is primarily intended as a guide. For the submission of your event concept, it is not necessary that you have already worked out the individual criteria in detail. In principle, however, the more the better!

The winners will be chosen by a jury consisting of members of the organizing committee, student representation and partners from industry and business. The decisions of the judging panel are binding and final. Detailed scores will not be disclosed to participants.

The following criteria will be applied when judging the power point presentation:

  • Event goals and purpose
  • Communication plan
  • Engagement
  • Logistics
  • #responsible MCI

Following the detailed competition pdfchecklist will help you to increase your chances of winning.

No more than 6 submitted presentations will be selected as finalists by the jury. The finalists will be invited to pitch their event concept on December 1, 2021. Teams will get 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes of Q&A.

The winners will be contacted by e-mail on December 3, 2021 at the latest.

What is the deadline?

FAQs - MCI Earth Day - Event Planning Competition

The winning teams will be able to implement its own concept. Of course, you as a team will receive support from MCI. The exact form of this support depends on the concept submitted. For example, the MCI could help you find experts or sponsors. MCI will also help you with the logistical organisation of MCI Earth Day.

The search for suitable sponsors would be part of your job, but the MCI PRME team will support you in this and you can use the existing MCI network.

No, MCI would support you in your search for additional staff or volunteers. This task would therefore not be your sole responsibility.

No, you do not have to contact the potential speakers or experts in advance. This can wait until you know that your event concept has been successful and will be implemented at MCI. If you enclose a short list of the speakers/experts you would like to invite, this will give the organizing committee a sufficient overview.

Currently there is no concrete budget yet. This depends on your concept and sponsorship, among other things. However, your proposal should be realistic.

If your submission is shortlisted but you cannot be in Innsbruck on 1 December, it is also possible to present your concept online.
