The City

Rennes lies in Brittany, being the second important city in Brittany besides Nantes. It has approx. 200,000 inhabitants.
Local industries include car manufacturing and telecommunications. PSA Peugeot Citroën, currently the largest employer of the population of Rennes, opened a manufacturing plant at Rennes La Janais in 1961. Technicolor (ex-Thomson) employs over 1,000, and France Telecom R&D over 1,200.
In few years, Rennes became one of the main centres in high tech industry. Rennes is one of first Technopoles in France that were established in an effort to stimulate the economies of regions other than Paris during the Aménagement du territoire.

The University

ESC Rennes School of Business is a modern international business school, which was founded in 1990 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rennes and cooperates closely with the local industry. ESC Rennes belongs to the group of prestigious French Grandes Écoles, elite graduate schools.
ESC Rennes is distinguished by its global outlook, international student body and international faculty. In addition to the prestigious French Grande École degrees, ESC Rennes awards British certified qualifications such as: BA, MA, MSc, Executive MBA and PhD. The school also offers Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree in China in cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
