The City


Kosice is the largest city in eastern Slovakia with a population of approximately 240,000 inhabitants.
Being the economic and cultural centre of eastern Slovakia, Kosice is home to three universities, many museums, galleries, and theatres. The city has a well-preserved historical centre with many heritage protected buildings.
Kosice is an important industrial center of Slovakia with the U.S. Steel Kosice steel mill as the largest employer.

The University


The Technical University of Košice is the second largest university of technology in Slovakia. It was founded in 1952 under the name of Košice Technical College. It is a strongly internationally oriented university consisting of 9 Faculties, among which the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, the Faculty of Aeronautics, etc.
