The course provides self-paced elements that allow participants to explore the following themes:
This activity focuses on leadership in diverse teams. The course starts with a first attempt to define leadership and illustrates how our understanding of leadership has evolved. Participants will discover direct and indirect ways to lead and learn how different leadership styles affect leadership outcomes. The course identifies traditional key works and looks at recently developed thoughts on leadership. In the next step, participants explore the concept of teamwork and its potential benefits (and drawbacks). Factors typically influencing the outcomes of teamwork are highlighted. In this context, the role of diversity will receive particular attention. Building on the two pillars of leadership and diverse teams), the attention will shift to the nexus of leadership and team diversity. The course will utilize recent knowledge in both areas from recent literature in work and occupational psychology. The course is offered with asynchronous components on SAKAI, allowing for flexible, self-paced learning.
