• H.E. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was the main democractic candidate in the 2020 presidential elections of Belarus after her husband Syarhei was refused permission to enter the elections, got several times arrested and finally sentenced to 18 years of severe prison of which he was only recently freed.

• Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was able to leave Belarus, stepped into the candidacy of her husband, surmounting the enormous threshhold of minimum 100,000 supporters, became the main opposition candidate and collexted assumingly the majority of votes leading to herself being later-on sentenced to 15 years of prison in absentia. As the leader of the Belarusian democratic movement and head of the Exile Cabinet of Belarus, she is now gathering support and advocating for the release of political prisoners and a peaceful transition of power through free and fair elections. • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya initiated an anti-war movement to prevent the participation of Belarus. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has become a symbol of the peaceful struggle for democracy, rule of law and strong female leadership. Among other distinctions, she is a recipient of the Sakharov Prize awarded by the European Parliament, the Charlemagne Prize, the Fritz Csoklich Democracy Award and many other prestigious acknowledgements.
  
  
• MCI has the honor of welcoming H.E. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya for the 2nd time, after she was already MCI's Distinguished Guest at our Opening of the Academic Year 2023 with 1,300 students in the Congress Innsbruck.
