In “Qualitative methods of empirical research”, we aim to develop your critical ability to independently undertake and solve business problems using scientific methods, specifically qualitative research methods. You will learn about the nature and characteristics of qualitative research, how to design qualitative research studies, collect and analyze data, and present qualitative research results. Furthermore, you will become familiar with the main approaches in qualitative research methods and recent trends. Therefore, this course contributes to your proficiency in developing and executing qualitative research projects.

Students acquire sound theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills in the areas of:
• Principles of qualitative research
• Quality criteria in qualitative research
• Overview of qualitative processes/methods
• Methodological and technical aspects of qualitative interviews:
o Developing an interview guideline
o Sampling and recruiting of interviewees
o Conducting an interview
o Documenting and transcribing an interview
o Content analysis versus hermeneutic methods
