    Project Work:
    In the project, we scout transformation potential and profile projects that model ecologically and socially responsible approaches to nature, local communities, climate, towns and villages, and mobility. We compile a catalogue that can serve as a guiding framework and positive vision for future-ready tourism development.

    After completing this course, you will achieve the following learning objectives:

    Part 1: General Knowledge
    • We explore major architectural styles and understand them in the context of their time.
    • We clarify the complex relationships between people and space.
    • We build a shared vocabulary of architectural terminology and ways of thinking and understand how architects and tourism professionals ask different questions and set different requirements for the human-made environment.
    • We gain insight into the relationships between urban development and tourism.
    • We learn to recognize high-quality architecture within the tourism industry and beyond.

    Part 2: Requirements for Collaboration and Communication between Tourism Professionals and Architects – Case Study
    • We explore the interaction between tourism and the Alpine context.
    • We gain practical knowledge of the processes involved in architectural design and construction.
    • We clarify the roles and responsibilities of architects, facilitating effective collaboration with tourism professionals.
    • We discuss future challenges and potential solutions.
    • Field trip.

    "Architecture and Tourism: Exploring the Built Environment" is a comprehensive introduction to the dynamic intersection of space, architecture, and design within the context of the tourism and leisure industry. Building on a general clarification and discussion of historical and contemporary ideas and notions of architecture and design, this course equips you with the essential knowledge required to make informed decisions in your role as tourism professionals and entrepreneurs.
