Students understand the interrelations of sustainable water management and the value of the water resource. Moreover, they are familiar with groundwater dynamics and the dispersion of pollutants beneath the earth’s surface, risk estimations, and remediation measures. They know about the possibilities of drinking water purification, distribution, usage and waste water recycling. They are aware of the consequences of human intervention in the hydrological cycle. In addition, they have an overview of the concepts of water reuse which trace back to water shortages.
Students understand the requirements of recycling and are able to apply this knowledge to case studies and practical examples.
Moreover, students are acquainted with the basic principles of economic models of circular economy and sustainable management. At the same time, they are aware of the concept of sustainable development as applied to the quantitative identification of consequences of material-converting processes and other.

• Corporate sustainability management (integrated management systems; process and product standards)
• The history of LCA
• LCA models (e.g. MIPS, SPI, EPS, CED, etc.)
• LCA applications (in line with ISO 14040/14044)
• Carbon footprint; water footprint
• Project assignment: LCA methods in practice (e.g. practical use of the ecological scarcity method)
