MCI students of all departments at all levels
Successful companies not only need to be profitable but also need acceptance of stakeholder groups and have to demonstrate that their activity is compatible with social goals. Therefore, the next generation of managers needs a profound understanding of corporate responsibility and how to make this an integral part of strategy and everyday management decisions. In the age of globalization this requires a global perspective.
The course will outline the overall global framework as defined in the context of the United Nations: the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN Global Compact and the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). With this global framework students will have a clear understanding of “responsibility” in a business context and the relevance for their management education and future careers.
Prerequisite: Although this is not a mandatory prerequisite it is highly recommended that each student prepares for the course by choosing one company and checking how it communicates “social responsibility” activities (on their webpage, in the annual report etc.).
