Are you passionate about joining MCI but not yet eligible for university studies in Austria right after high school? MCI Foundation Courses are an excellent pathway for international students aiming to pursue higher education.

At MCI, we offer a specialized Foundation Program designed to bridge the gap and help you meet the requirements for admission to MCI bachelor’s programs. Based on the self-study concept you can take the courses outside a traditional classroom setting and learn on your own.

The following foundation courses are included

This program includes four essential courses that are fully online, self-paced, and crafted to equip you with the knowledge and skills you’ll need for your future studies. Be aware that with completing these foundation courses, you are only valid for admission exclusively to MCI.

Digital Competence & Self-Management

After completion of this course, students can

  • effectively manage their time and prioritize tasks to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • utilize digital tools to search, retrieve, analyze, and organize information effectively.
  • recognize the importance of adopting a Growth Mindset for personal and professional success.
  • differentiate between various learning strategies and techniques to optimize their learning process.

Intercultural Competence & Diversity Training

After completion of this course, students can

  • build knowledge of cultural context, practical implications, and language for effective communication and begin the journey towards developing intercultural competence.
  • explain various models for classifying cultures and apply this understanding in different contexts.
  • understand the difference between ideal culture and real culture, and how cultural values shape human behavior.

Academic Writing

After completion of this course, students can

  • define Business and Management Research and describe the Research Process comprehensively.
  • generate research topics, narrow them down, and formulate precise research questions effectively.
  • understand the importance of literature and conduct literature searches using various strategies and databases.
  • assess the quality and relevance of literature efficiently.
  • know how to work with literature by applying strategies for organizing and reading academic literature.
  • develop and critically analyze academic arguments, identifying logical fallacies and applying argumentative strategies.
  • apply the APA style for citations, maintain bias-free language, and avoid plagiarism by adhering to the standards of academic integrity.
  • structure written work effectively, organize themes and chapters, and construct paragraphs and sentences coherently.
  • utilize storytelling techniques to enhance academic writing and produce high-quality written work.
Marketing & Sales

After completion of this course, students can

  • define marketing and distinguish it from related concepts, such as sales and advertising.
  • describe the micro- and macroeconomic factors influencing a company's ability to reach its customers effectively.
  • outline the key steps involved in developing a customer-centric marketing strategy, including market segmentation, targeting, differentiation, and positioning.
  • use suitable instruments of the marketing mix to implement marketing strategies.
  • understand various concepts of sales organizations and processes in sales.
  • develop fundamental sales strategies.
  • plan budgets and assess the performance of sales
  • critically evaluate unethical marketing and sales practices and their implications for businesses and society.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the foundation courses are EUR 2,400 for the four prescribed courses.

Registration requirements

The foundation courses are intended for applicants who do not fully meet the regular admission requirements for bachelor’s programs at MCI (most commonly applicants from non-EU/EEA countries whose prior secondary education is not considered equivalent).

Only after successful completion of all four foundation courses can these applicants apply for a bachelor’s program.

These foundation courses are valid exclusively at MCI. We cannot guarantee that other Austrian universities will recognize them as meeting their study requirements.

Fee deduction

For students from non-EU/EEA countries (who are subject to different tuition fees than EU/EEA citizens), the foundation program fees will be deducted from the regular tuition fees once they are accepted into the applied bachelor’s program at MCI. Should the student not be accepted by the respective study program, the foundation program fees will not be refunded.
