Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • The objective of this course is to provide an overview of hospitality management. In doing so, current issues, key challenges, and emerging trends in the sector are examined.

    Students are expected to gain a working knowledge of the hospitality sector including how to best serve guests by properly designing facilities, servicescapes, and atmospherics. Because the hospitality sector is often a labor-intensive industry, key staffing and organizational behavior topics will also be covered as they apply to this context. Coupled with the high human component, is the increased use of various technologies and data analysis approaches in the sector; therefore, students will secure an enhanced understanding of these trends and applications as well.

  • The course comprises an interactive mix of lectures, discussions and individual and group work.
