Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • The students:
    - are familiar with the structure and functioning of selected medical devices for diagnosis and therapy.
    - are knowledgeable about the current state of the art of commercially available devices.
    - can act as intermediaries between users, patients, and engineers, contributing actively to the implementation of new device requirements and their optimization.

  • Functional diagnostics:

    Cardiological basic diagnostics
    Pulmonary function diagnostics
    Diabetes diagnostics

    Therapeutic devices:

    Defibrillators/ICD systems (pacemakers)
    Heart-lung machine
    Anesthesia devices
    Shockwave therapy devices
    Laser systems in medicine
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
  • The course comprises an interactive mix of lectures, discussions and individual and group work.
