Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • The students
    • acquire an overview of the basics of project management and projects as strategic success factors of a company
    • know the essential theoretical principles of classic project management
    • are able to accompany and manage a project from planning through implementation to completion
    • know the origins and theory of agile methods
    • gain an insight into the most common agile frameworks and their practical application
    • have an overview of the concept, procedures and interrelationships of general business administration
    • know the interrelationships and dependencies of business management sub-areas and know the importance of controlling as a basis for strategic orientation
    • know the structure of a balance sheet, the basic principles of business accounting and cost accounting
    • are aware of the importance of successful entrepreneurship for business and the economy as a whole and know the factors that influence the success of growth-oriented start-ups
    • gain an initial conceptual understanding of the actively managed process of setting up a company with the help of a business plan and are familiar with the different phases and milestones in the start-up phase
    • learn to recognize, evaluate and use entrepreneurial opportunities
    • can combine tangible and intangible resources to build an entrepreneurial organization and are characterized by entrepreneurial thinking and action

    Agile methods
    - History of software development in the context of classic development models
    - Origin and concept of agile methods
    - Introduction to the “Scrum” framework
    - Introduction to the “Kanban” method
    - Insight into the practical application of agile methods

    Introduction to business administration
    - Organizational & legal forms
    - Structure of a balance sheet
    - External accounting
    - Operational cost accounting
