Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • Students know basic concepts of descriptive statistics, such as how to use percentages, means, median values, quartiles, or standard devia-tions to describe samples. They also understand basic inferential concepts, such as confidence intervals and correlations.
Course contents
  • “Basic Quantitative Methods” will be an introduction to basic statistics and descriptive statistics. Students will learn basic commands working with a statistics program (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R). Depending on stu-dents’ skill level a short introduction into inferential statistics (e.g., regression analysis) is possible.
