Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • The students acquire a basic understanding of the central principles of economic theory along with the ability to identify and discuss microeconomic as well as macroeconomic models and rules. They receive insight into basic assumptions about the behavior of economic agents and are enabled to understand market phenomena on the basis of abstract models of individual economic decision-making. They learn how to determine an aggregate’s economic relations and to analyze and appropriately classify the macroeconomic conditions, scope for creativity, and schools of thought with respect to their impact on business management. At the end of the course students are additionally prepared to identify and analyze current developments against the backdrop of economic theory.
    Students acquire a basic understanding of the structure and organization of companies. They receive an overview of the central processes and functions of human resource management as well as selected methods and instruments. In addition, they learn how to classify and evaluate processes of human resource management from a personal, economic, local and global perspective and thus acquire the ability to assume meta-positions on various levels.
    The primary focus in human resource management is on the organization of personnel policy measures and their critical assessment. Participants in the course learn
    • about the most important instruments of personnel policy,
    • how to evaluate their possible uses and limitations,
    • and moreover develop a basic understanding of the structure and organization of companies.

    Macroeconomics:
    • Welfare measurement by means of national products (GDP, GNP)
    • Macroeconomic modelling – the IS-LM Model
    • Macroeconomic aspects of economic policy
    • Short-term monetary and fiscal policy
    • Labor market
    • Long-term monetary and fiscal policy
    • Macroeconomics of open and closed national economies
    • Production, pricing and employment
    • Testing economic policy
