Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • The students acquire a basic understanding of the central principles of economics along with the ability to identify and discuss microeconomic as well as macroeconomic concepts and rules. They receive insight into basic assumptions about the behavior of economic agents and are enabled to understand market phenomena on the basis of abstract models of individual economic decision-making. They learn how to determine an aggregate’s economic relations and to analyze and appropriately classify macroeconomic conditions. At the end of this course students are additionally prepared to identify and analyze current economic developments and implications of economic policy (e.g. how to achieve economic growth, sustainable growth, price stability and low unemployment).
Students understand trade-offs in economic policy and can name important trade-offs.
