Learning outcomes of the course unit
  • Students are familiar with the most important basic technologies for Smart Systems and know the specific requirements in communication. They know the most common applications of smart technologies and have an overview of current trends and innovations in this field.
    Students are able to identify, structure and critically analyze problems also in new or emerging areas of their discipline. They can discuss current developments and assess their potential significance. They can apply current scientific methods in the investigation of new trends and developments.

  • Please note: Prerequisite knowledge from IT-relevant studies required!
Course contents
  • • Breadth and depth of the field "management, communication, and IT" in science and practice using selected, current topics, such as quantum computing and blockchain technologies
    • Looking at emerging technologies from a variety of perspectives
    • Methods to identify trends and assess their impact
    • Basic concepts of smart systems or cyber-physical systems
    • Basic technologies for smart systems
    • Communication requirements in the context of cyber-physical systems or Internet of Things
    • Critical reflection of current developments from the fields of study
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
  • The course comprises an interactive mix of lectures, discussions and individual and group work.
