This project aims to provide a report to local authorities highlighting the benefits of merging the two existing sites.
The health and social services were generally very satisfied with our report and its outcome.
THE CHALLENGE
The organisation is currently spread across two locations. This spatial separation hampers internal communication, weakens the sense of community, and leads to structural duplication. Financial constraints also pose a challenge. The day center is particularly affected, struggling with significant spatial constraints.
OUTCOMES
To address the research question, a multi-method approach was employed, including a literature review, observations, interviews, and financial analysis. The findings reveal a dedicated team striving to work in a structured manner, despite organizational and spatial challenges. However, informal communication channels present a significant issue. Staff find their work meaningful but report a lack of appreciation and challenges related to short-term absences. The separation of locations impedes substitutions and informal interactions. Moreover, infrastructural shortcomings such as insufficient space, inadequate technical equipment, and too few service vehicles place considerable strain on both staff and the organization. These factors negatively impact the quality of work and team cohesion.

Partner Statement:After the most recent meeting between our contacts, the health and social services management, and the nursing service management, it became clear that they were very appreciative of our work. They acknowledged the results and will review everything again based on the report, respond accordingly, and take appropriate steps. The official completion of our project will not take place until November, as we will be giving another presentation to the responsible mayors at that time. Both we and the health and social care services are very much looking forward to it.
