On-site mobility

Trains, buses and taxis within the Wipptal

Let your car take a holiday too and use the extensive network of local public transport in the Wipptal holiday region. Suburban trains (S-Bahn) run in the main valley of Wipptal, with regional buses servicing the side valleys for easy access. NEW: The guest card is your ticket for public transport in the Wipptal holiday region. This includes the S-Bahn trains Innsbruck - Brenner (S3) and all bus lines (4145, 4141, 4144, 4146, 4143 and 8365) into the mountain valleys as well as the journey from Innsbruck or Brenner.

Train, bus, schedules and taxi

You can head out on a convenient and affordable sightseeing tour to the state capital of Innsbruck or take a shopping trip to the Outlet Center Brenner with the train, which runs through the main valley of Wipptal from Innsbruck to Brenner every hour and from Innsbruck to Steinach every half hour (S3).

The routes of the regional buses go from the train stations to all valleys and to many starting points of beautiful hiking routes, mountain trails, and destination points.

More information about the timetables can be found at www.vvt.at or via the free VVT SmartRide app (download for iOS, download for Android), which contains all timetables for public transport (train, bus, tram etc.) throughout Austria in real time and even cross-border to South Tyrol.

From 01.01.2020, you can travel to the Wipptal free of charge using public transport. Let your accommodation know if you are travelling by public transport and you will receive a travel voucher by email. Please print this voucher at home and bring it with you. The voucher is valid as a ticket on local trains (S3) and bus lines 4145, 4141, 4144, 4146, 4143 and 8365 from Innsbruck or Brenner to your booked accommodation (only when presenting photo ID). More about arriving by train & bus

Only the ski bus (all bus lines) can be used in the region during the winter from 14.12.2019 to 01.01.2020, after that the guest card = ticket for all bus lines (incl. ski buses) principle applies. Please note that not all buses go directly to the Bergeralm. You may have to change buses at the train station sometimes. We print a ski bus timetable every year containing all the information you need. You can obtain this from your accommodation or from the information offices.

Furthermore, there is a taxi company in the region, which will happily take you from A to B. Contact: Wipptal-Taxi - Helmuth Detassis, tel. +43 664 12 23 055, email: helmuth.detassis@gmail.com

In winter we offer additionally the "Tour taxi" that is waiting on standby (reservation until 8 pm the night before) for ski tourers and snowshoehikers in the mountaineering village St. Jodok, Schmirn & Vals, both bringing them and picking them up later at start- and end-locations of winter touring routes. Our driver is Christoph Tel.: +43 (0) 664 788 05 40
