The MCI certificate confirms the attendance and successful exam completion. On receipt the language course is shown on the Transcript of Records including 2 ECTS (standard courses), 3 ECTS (Chinese courses) or 4 ECTS (intensive courses) and achieved grade.

Please note that in order to be entitled to get a MCI language certificate a minimum attendance rate of 70% is required.

Confirmation of attendance

The confirmation of attendance confirms the participation in a language course with no examination performance.

On receipt of the confirmation of attendance the language course is not shown on the Transcript of Records and does not contain ECTS and grade.

Workshops
MCI Badges

Students of all MCI study programs can acquire MCI Badges during their studies (extra-curricular i.e. in addition to regular studies, without ECTS). Among others, the Badge International Career Skills is offered, which includes language courses as an optional integrative component.

  • Registration for a max. of 2 badges per academic year
  • Badges must be completed within one academic year
  • Flat fee of EUR 90,- per badge (includes all seminars, MCIWebinars etc.)
  • Registration period: 1.09. to 15.10. (limited availability)

Ulysseus

The MCI is part of the European University Ulysseus. This alliance results in many additional possibilities and opportunities for MCI students and staff. One concrete possibility, for example, is online language courses offered asynchronously (and in small numbers synchronously) for different languages and levels.

Organization

Registration Deadline

Registrations for MCI language courses for the winter term of 2026/27 are possible online until September 17, 2026. You can register for the 2027 summer term from January 8 to February 25, 2027.

Please note that registrations and cancellations after the deadline can unfortunately not be considered.

Course Duration

MCI language courses offer a total of 30 teaching units.

Standard courses include 10 evenings (3 units per evening). One teaching unit complies with 45 minutes.

Intensive courses offer a total of 60 teaching units on site on 20 evenings, 3 units per evening, 1 teaching unit complies with 45 minutes.

Time: 6.00 to 8.15 pm

Course Fees

Regular course fees for MCI students currently studying at MCI are 95,00 € for standard courses or 150,00 € for intensive courses.

Regular course fees for MCI Alumni are 190,00 € or 300,00 €.

Course copies are included in the course fee but not language books.

Payment is due online upon the online registration.

Minimum Number of Participants

MCI language courses require the registration of at least 10 participants in order to take place.

The MCI Language Center will inform all participants shortly after the registration deadline whether the language course will take place.

The course fee will be refunded in case of a course cancellation.

Course Selection and Self-Assessment

To find the right course level, please check the requirements in the short fact box and use our Self-Assessment-Tool or the Klett placement test.

Please note that course changes are not possible after registration deadline.

Course Cancellation

The cancellation of registration is possible, at no cost, up to seven days before registration closes.

For the 2026/27 winter semester, a cancellation fee of €40.00 applies to cancellations made between September 10, 2026, and September 17, 2026.

In the case of cancellations as of September 18, 2026, the course fee is to be fully paid and NO refund will be made. Course fees are not transferable and cannot be credited for a subsequent semester.

Would you like to learn a foreign language currently not listed on our MCI webpage? Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese, Turkish, etc.

Individually foreign language courses are available to groups of at least 10 participants.
