    In this course, students are familiarised with multiplexed bioanalytical platforms, the so-called omics technologies, the biostatistics and bioinformatics tools needed for managing and analysing the data sets, and the impact of the results on biomarker development and validation. To this end, the course will cover the four major platforms, i.e. genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, and evaluate their completeness, standardisation, the qualitative or quantitative nature of the data, the functional annotation of the analytes and, eventually, their relevance for pathobiochemical insights and diagnostic/prognostic tests.
